I feel horrible. My coaches are so mad at me for not going to school and running yesterday. Some of the stuff they said they probably shouldn’t have. I’m not going to go into detail on it, but let’s just say I was in tears. I really did feel sick yesterday, and I honestly can’t think right.
I know what I’m going to do. I refuse to face problems in any other way than head on. I am going to talk to my coaches directly about how what they said was wrong.
I have nothing to lose. They can kick me off the team. They can give me detention. I don’t care. I am probably going to be the only Frazee student in all of this school’s history to talk this way to our assistant coach.
I don’t like what I have to do. I do know, however, that I’m doing the right thing.
That’s so terrible. Coaches should understand that sometimes we get sick. Look at the big picture, sometimes stuff happens. I don’t think I’ve ever been reprimanded for a race when I did really bad because I was sick. Heck, my coach tries to help me get healthy, tips as such on what to eat. They need to watch our personal wellbeing, not the team’s win.
(Pointless story to relate to this, but I don’t know if it’ll make you feel better. One girl on my team got stung by a bee up her nose at our pasta party the night before a meet. She lost feeling in her face and ended up leaving school early the next day to go to the hospital. She ended up getting steroid shots and couldn’t run that day. We lost by 1 point and if she had run 3 minutes slower than her PR would could have run. But they didn’t get mad at her for that. If you physically cannot run you cannot run. Being sick is a valid excuse and I’m really upset your coaches were mad. I was sick for like a week and they never yelled at me. Heck, I was sick for indoor states for track and I cried afterwards but I never got yelled at). That makes me so angry.
Your “pointless” story honestly makes me feel so much better. Thank you so much 💚 it’s far from pointless. Having her run would have been just stupid.Source: longdistancetrackgirl
